Michael Sherry

Michael joined World Class Academy in 2017, back when the school had three academies and parts of its homepage still ran on Flash. As WCA’s Director of Technology, he built the website you’re reading and keeps the school’s tech running while the academies are on the road: student and staff accounts, email, and devices. He’s watched WCA grow from three academies to five and counting, mostly from behind a screen rather than behind a paddle.

Outside of WCA, Michael has spent more than fifteen years in web development and runs his own agency, White Salmon Web Design. His work covers servers, email systems, and computer hardware, which turns out to be handy at a school that’s never in one place for long.

Michael grew up on the Salmon River in remote Northern California, where you learn to fix things for yourself. He’s a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and audio engineer with a home recording studio. Unlike most of the WCA faculty, he doesn’t do an action sport, though he’s happiest on a long backpacking trip deep in the wilderness. He lives in White Salmon, Washington, with his wife and son.
