Michael Sherry

Michael has been part of World Class Academy for nearly a decade, joining when it was still a single kayaking program. As Director of Technology, he built the website you’re reading and manages the technology that keeps the school connected while its academies are on the road. He’s watched WCA grow from one program to five, even if his view has been from behind a screen rather than behind a paddle.

Outside of WCA, Michael has spent over fifteen years in web development and runs his own agency, White Salmon Web Design. His work covers everything from servers and email systems to computer hardware, and all of it comes in handy at a traveling school.

Michael grew up in the wilderness of Northern California, which taught him to be resourceful long before he got into tech. He’s a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and audio engineer with a home recording studio. He is also, perhaps notably, one of the only members of the WCA faculty who doesn’t participate in action sports, though he still loves a good hike. Michael lives in beautiful White Salmon, Washington, with his wife and son.
