Selwyn Slotegraaf

Biography

Selwyn grew up in Peize, a small village in the North of the Netherlands. With no water nearby, he spent most of his youth on the soccer field, playing at a competitive level, which is also where he got his first taste of coaching, guiding younger players as a youth coach. That early love for sport and teaching led him to study at the Academy of Physical Education, where his passion for coaching truly took shape.

It was during his studies that Selwyn discovered kitesurfing, a sport that quickly became his biggest passion. After finishing his Bachelor of Education (BEd) in Physical Education and working as a PE teacher for two years, the world opened back up post-Covid, and Selwyn set off to travel and teach kitesurfing around the globe, from running a kite school in Cape Town to training the youth of Aruba to become kite instructors themselves.

It was in Cape Town that he first came across WCKA, and from that moment his sights were set on making it his dream job. Now in his second year at WCKA, Selwyn believes deeply in the experiences WCKA creates to help people grow, and in the value of small classes that allow for real, individual teaching. He loves sharing his passion for sport with others, and is excited to keep exploring new spots and helping students grow, both as people and as kitesurf athletes.
