Sam grew up in Bozeman Montana where he developed his desire for the outdoors. As a kid Sam followed the water as it descended the Rocky Mountains from solid form in the winter to liquid form in the spring and summer. At 15 years old Sam learned to kayak in the local youth kayaking program and has been chasing new adventures on the river ever since.
Sam attended Montana State University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (Eco-hydraulics).
Before college Sam spent his senior year of high school at World Class Kayak Academy. This experience changed Sam’s life and solidified his passion for kayaking and traveling the world. Throughout Sam’s college career, he spent his weekends traveling massive distances to paddle around the USA and South America and summer breaks raft guiding and safety kayaking in Colorado. When Sam is not kayaking you can find him skiing at Bridger Bowl or hunting and fishing around Montana.
This is Sam’s first year as a teacher at the kayaking school, and he could not be more excited. Sam will be teaching AP Physics 1, Pre-Calculus, and the SAT prep class. He aims to inspire students to chase their goals in kayaking while demonstrating the importance of education.
