COVID-19 UPDATE

World Class Academy continues to closely monitor the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. As students, families, teachers, classrooms, and communities around the world continue to be affected, we stand by our commitment to provide engaging learning opportunities while mitigating the risks that are inherent with global travel.

We are running programs in person while adhering to our COVID-19 protocols. Our protocols are designed to minimize the risk of exposure and transmission among our group and the communities we visit. We are accepting master applications for the 2021-2022 school year and encourage students to apply. Prospective students and their families are encouraged to reach out with questions about our COVID-19 protocols or other details about our programs.

B.A. International Studies, French Studies – Colby College

Anna Bruno first encountered World Class Academy on the banks of the Nile River in 2007, where she was volunteering and teaching kayaking while pursuing a yet-to-be-completed Master’s thesis. After a year teaching English Lit for New River Academy, Anna joined the Kayak Academy as a teacher (English Literature, Economics) and Budget Director from 2011-2103. Anna is excited to be returning to World Class as the Dean of Students. Her time with the school has taught her the value of alternative education, and she has witnessed first-hand the impact WCA’s unique culture can have. Anna brings a decade of experience working with youth in the outdoors, from teaching kayaking around the world to running the Wilderness Tours Keener program, to her role as Dean. Her focus is on upholding WCA’s standards and expectations for academics, athletics, and character while helping faculty and students to maintain WCA’s positive school culture. 

Anna is also a three-time member of the USA Freestyle Kayak Team and the Editor for Kayak Session Magazine.
