I was born and raised in North Carolina. I didn’t discover climbing until the age of 17, but after that, I spent every chance I could get going out to the mountains! I feel very lucky that I was able to start climbing with such easy access to the Red River Gorge and the New River Gorge, as well as all that the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway has to offer.
I attended college at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and competed in the USA Collegiate circuit, but my true love remains pushing myself outside on real rock. After college, I moved to France, where I worked in my city’s Urban Planning department and had my first experience working as an educator, teaching English part-time. While abroad, I came to realize that this was how I wanted to spend my life: teaching and mentoring students while exploring new cultures and cliffsides in my free time.
