How to Cook like TCA

Although TCA is known more for its climbing accomplishments than those in the kitchen, we still know how to cook up a storm! From the comfort foods of grilled cheese and tomato soup to curries to falafels to arepas, TCA knows how to throw down the cooking gauntlet and make a delicious feast. One of TCA’s staples is what has been deemed “Bowl of Food” – a grain, veggies, protein, sauce – all dumped into one bowl. It’s nutritious, customizable, and simple. Join us in enjoying this easy dinner staple!

Bowl of Food Recipe

  • Ingredients:
    • Grain: rice, quinoa, cous cous, the sky’s the limit!
    • Vegetables: peppers, onions, sweet potatoes, broccoli, brussels sprouts – you could your own adventure!
    • Protein: tofu, chicken, ground beef, seitan, tempeh
    • Seasonings
    • Toppings: mayo, hot sauce, seasoning salt, etc.
  • Steps:
    1. Prepare your ingredients. Chop your vegetables; chop protein, if necessary
    2. Set a pot of water on the stove to heat for the grain and heat the water over high heat. Follow the instructions for that grain to cook.
    3. While the grain is cooking, sauté vegetables with desired seasonings such as salt, pepper, chili powder, garlic.
    4. Cook the meat in another pan with desired seasonings.
    5. Craft your bowl of food – grain, veggies, and protein.
    6. Top with desired seasonings such as mayo, hot sauce, sour cream – anything you can dream of!
    7. Enjoy!
